So many things pair well with beer, right? What about bowling? Because Enix Brewing is opening their brewery in Homestead, PA with a fully functioning bowling alley! But there is so much more to cover, so let’s get at it right away.
We recently toured the future home of Enix Brewing (on E. 8th Ave. in Homestead) with Lavinia Oancea (Enix marketing guru) and David Rodriguez (co-founder and master brewer). Joining them on this venture is Víctor Rodriguez (co-founder). Located in the former home of Levine Brothers Hardware, the name Enix comes from the street the co-founders (Victor and David) grandfather grew up on in Spain.

While Enix will soon be the newest brewery opening in Pittsburgh, David is not new to the brewing scene. Having opened and operated two breweries in Spain (which both are still up and running), Enix will be the third brewery opened by Lavina and David. So you can trust that they know what it takes to get a successful brewery up and running.
As we mentioned, there is a lot to cover when it comes to Enix, such as their kitchen. Yes, they will offer a full kitchen with 40+ items on the menu. Heading up the kitchen at Enix is executive chef Sean Skerrette, who most recently was the former chef at Balter in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Because of his background you can expect a very strong international flair to the menu. While offering strong international flavors, they also intend to use locally sourced ingredients in as much of their menu as possible.
We sat down with chef Skerrette to learn about his vision for the menu. As he described to us the menu will offer “modern Southern European food” with influences coming from Spain, Italy, the Caribbean and many other areas across the globe. While going with an international theme, they also intend to offer food people will be comfortable with. Along with tapas, fish and more traditional items they will also offer gelato and sorbet. An addition of a wood fire pizza oven will make you feel like you are enjoying pizza in the heart of Tuscany.
The 15 barrel Bavarian Brew House will support the 12 tap system, with the intention of opening with 8 beers. To keep with the international flair Italian and Spanish wines will be available. Because of their full liquor license they will be able to offer in and out of state wine and spirits.

Once outside of the taproom you will find yourself in their future beer garden. This will provide the perfect location for enjoying a night out on a beautiful cool day. Along with the outdoor beer garden they have built a stage for live entertainment completing the experience.

As we said, there is a lot to cover with Enix, so let’s get to the next part; the bowling alley. That’s right, there will be a fully functional, 8 lane bowling alley right upstairs! What was once a former private bowling alley this will be a part of the Enix brand. Just head upstairs, grab your shoes and bowling ball and you are off! But don’t worry you won’t have to trek up and down the stairs for your drink. A full bar will be available in the alley.

The brewery also intends to be kid friendly. The owners know that brewery dining experiences are made for the whole family, not just those over 21. They will offer toys for kids to enjoy as well as home made sodas will be available to provide those under age a full dining experience. The brewery will be open for lunch and dinner.
Enix intends to open their brewery towards the end of summer. During our visit construction was well on its way and the brew house looked ready to pump out some delicious liquid. We will continue to update as they get closer to their grand opening.
